The latest, new, and fresh for new.space

Some stuff we've building, and few things coming soon

In German there is a warm greeting where one can say “Hello friends of the sun”. In the wintertime it feels more like a joke as we don’t get much sunlight in the winter here in Berlin. However, spring is creeping up and I can’t hold it in anymore. So, “Hallo, Freunde der Sonne”. Today I want to showcase a host of improvements and bugfixes the team has been working on, and if you read closely you might learn what the next big feature(s) for new.space will be.

Let’s look at new.space for web first:

New

• We added sorting functionality. In case you missed it, you can read all about it here ⬆️

• We added a bunch of neat use-case pages. Check them out here 🕸️

• Added initial plumbing for a Note card type 👀

• Added initial setup for accounts on the web 👀

Fixed

• Fixed a bunch of small database bugs that caused problems for certain users 🤓

• Fixed the space menu layout when a scrollbar would show up 📜

• Fixed a few bugs that caused some errors in the console to fire 🔥

• Fixed many Notes (coming soon to web) related bugs 🗒️

Improved

• Added a small underline to item titles to indicate they can be renamed 🖊️

• Added emoji reaction to the detail view 🤩

• Emoji reaction search field will now auto-focus when opened 🔎

• Updated a few icons and assets 🧙‍♂️

• Added emoji reactions in fullscreen 🤩

• Fix file size being calculated incorrectly 🧮

Improved

• Show add sheet automatically if a space is empty 🪹

• Reduced the complexity of the details view. 🖨️

• Delay doing nonessential work until the app is finished loading ⚒️

• Thumbnail duplicates delete correctly now 🖼️

• Color palette has been refined 🎨

As I mentioned at the start, we are super close to launching notes and accounts on the web. These 2 features unlock incredible capabilities like giving context to a space and getting an overview of all your spaces. On iOS, we have some special stuff in the pipeline that I'm not quite ready to spill the beans on yet. Needless to say, these will unlock some powers that will level up new.space in big ways.
