Someone just introduced me to new.space earlier this week. As someone who needs to securely share files with others, I've bounced between using tools like WeTransfer, ToffeeShare, and Dropbox as methods. However, I have a few complaints about each, and New.Space seems to be a solid solution from what I've seen so far.
In layperson's terms, could you comment on how new.space's file security compares to some of these other services? Thanks so much.
Great question! Put simply, everything you share is encrypted on your computer before itβs sent to our servers. When somebody accesses your space and the files or links inside of it, they decrypt them locally on their computer using keys that are never sent to our servers.
So, everything is encrypted and decrypted locally on usersβ computers. We at new.space are completely incapable of ever decrypting your stuff.
This is different from most services because those other services send the unencrypted files to their servers. They are technically able to view your content, index it, use it to train AI models, or whatever else they want.
At new.space, we value privacy and security very highly, and, as such, we designed a service that makes it impossible for us to access our usersβ content.
I hope that helps. Let us know if you have any other questions or ideas for how we can improve the service. Download the iOS beta, too, if you havenβt already! https://testflight.apple.com/join/knCc0H6p
Anthony, thanks so much for your thorough, helpful response. What you're describing regarding security, especially related to NOT training AI models, is exactly what I'm seeking in a file sharing service. I'll definitely check out your iOS Beta, and will also be recommending your tool to everyone I know. I've already listed it now on my business resources page here: https://josephliu.co/business-resources/#teams

Thanks a lot for doing that. Definitely reach out if you have any suggestions or run into any problems!
I like Safariβs feature to reorder tabs based on their URL. Could link items in new.space be sorted by URL, just like Safari?
Thatβs an interesting suggestion. What would you expect to happen if there were files intermixed with the links?
Files can be sorted independently by a secondary or default criterion following link items.
Cool. I like the idea of grouping links by the site they link to. Weβll talk about it as a team to see if itβs something we can make work.
