After a peek forward, let's have a look back

Put away your Christmas tree, it is now February. Even you, Taylor. Last week, we looked at what we are cooking up for new.space in the next few months. Today, let's take a sec and look back over the last few weeks and see what we've been working on not only on the web, but also in the iOS beta. Haven't tried the beta yet? Get it here:

Let's look at new.space for web first:

New

• Filenames are editable. Hallelujah. Just click on the title to get a prompt to edit it. Screenshot_31240_242432_01230 no more!

• You can now drag a folder of stuff and it will add all the content inside. Note: This only works 1 layer deep.

• We've added a lot of infrastructure work needed to support upcoming features. This stuff is invisible, but will make things like accounts on the web click together when it is ready.

Fixed

• Video thumbnail creation in Firefox has been fixed. Firefox, you ol' problem child you.

• Fix thumbnails for small text files.

• PDF fullscreen should render correctly now.

• Fixed a bug where locked spaces could rename titles.

• Fixed issue where download buttons would sometimes not show up in details view.

• Fixed drag and scroll touch event handling breaking click events.

Improved

• Retuned download messaging.

• Improved fullscreen image quality and loading.

• Updated "What's new" UI.

• Improved PDF rendering.

As I mentioned above, there is a lot of "plumbing" happening right now as we prepare for accounts on the web and a host of other features that we are excited to release this year. If there is a bug or improvement you would like to see fixed, reply to this email and let me know.

Ok, let's look at the iOS beta. The beta is very new 🆕. So, this list is a bit shorter:

• File renaming matches the behavior on the web

• Fixed fullscreen placeholder

• Fixed thumbnails syncing

• Fixed shared iconography status

• Fixed random sheet dismissal

• Fixed some unnecessary download/upload error messages

Improved

• Plaintext thumbnail generation

• Show all spaces in space picker

• Pinned spaces syncing

• Periodically restart failed uploads

We are seriously excited about what is coming up for new.space in the next few weeks and months. There is so much stuff in the pipeline, I think you are going to love it.
