Strap in and take a note, we've got a nice update for new.space available today! If you visit new.space or open the add menu in the new.space for iOS beta, then you will see a new button in the action bar: Note. Let's dive in and look at this feature, how it works (some special things it can do), and what comes next.
End-to-end Easy 🍳
Getting started is simple. Hitting the Note button will instantly create a new note which is totally ready to go. As with everything shared into a space, it is end-to-end encrypted meaning that only you and those with whom you share the Space have access to it. Want to keep it private? Your Today Space is a great way to keep a journal with notes since they are automatically dated and flexible for however you want to use them. We made a whole page about notes, you can take a look at it here.
Whatever floats your note ☁️
Notes are great for giving context to a Space, whether it is extra instructions, info, or guides on what to do with the content shared. When quickly creating a Space for meetings or the start of a project, Notes are fantastic for capturing those initial thoughts and ideas.
Other NOTEworthy things 📓
Need a note now? Yea I get that. Well you can go to new.space/note to instantly get a Space with the Note open and a blinking cursor. Well that is a neato-note feature. We are cooking up a similar thing for iOS in an update later this week, just long press on the app icon and create a new Note right from your home screen.
This is the first version of Notes and we are really happy to release it and supe-up the experience of new.space. We recognize that this is a version one, and we would love to hear your thoughts on it. Is there anything that can be better? How are you using Notes? Encounter any bugs? We want to know all of it, let us know in the comments.
We are working hard at the moment to release accounts for new.space on the web and to reach that App Store release for the iOS app. We'll be in touch soon with more info on these things as they begin to be ready for testing. As always, thanks for reading and happy sharing ✌️
It would be ideal to support Markdown syntax for live rendering in notes.
I'm experiencing an issue where thumbnails fail to generate when I add photos to my space, either through the share extension or by direct upload. This is occurring on the latest beta version from TestFlight. Is this a bug, or is it only affecting my device?
