We Have Liftoff - Get new.space for iOS on the App Store
A look at the launch and also some special releases
We just released new.space for iOS and you can get it right here. This app launch delivers the same experience you've seen in the beta, but with a some new things that I’m excited to show you all. Let's get into it!
Space is Expanding
With this official release of new.space for iOS, we are also launching something special: Space+. By subscribing to Space+ you get nice advantages, like unlocking 50x more storage across your Spaces, beautiful alternate app icons, and special access to new and upcoming features. We'll be adding more perks to Space+ as we continue to develop the product, and a subscription here goes directly towards supporting our small team of 8 people develop new.space to its full potential. You can get Space+ by going to the membership section in settings.
A New Icon
Speaking of beautiful app icons, we wanted to refine the style and make it really great. Luckily Julius, the lead designer of new.space, understood the assignment. Behold:
Here are a few words form Julius describing some of the decisions that make this thing pop:
For the app store launch we gave our icon a makeover. Colors are more vibrant now with the idea to resemble a space sunrise. We also added stars in the background to make it feel less abstract. The star got slightly rounded to look more friendly. Lastly we added subtle shading for a more refined look.
Additionally we worked on some cool alternative styles that are reserved for our Space+ subscribers.
Moving Forward
We have been marching towards this day for a long time, and we are over the moon (I am allowed 1 space-pun per post) to finally be able to say "Hey, download our app in the App Store!". If you've been using new.space and love it, we'd love for you to leave a review to let others see how it has already been helpful to you in your projects. We'll be celebrating this launch in the coming weeks and months with more and more features, promotions, and updates—so stay tuned.
If you are among the people reading this post wondering when an Android app will come along, I unfortunately can’t give you a concrete date at this very moment. Multiple people on our team use Android as their personal phone, so we know we have to make our product work really well on Android. As a very small team, we have to be super focused with our time when deciding which things to work on.
Before signing off however, from the entire Shareup crew: thanks for helping us reach this day. Till next time, happy sharing!
Congrats!
Congrats on the iOS app. Just wanted to know if there will be an Android app coming soon in the pipeline, even if its not soon, could you maybe find a way where we could share links to the PWA using the Web Share API and a share target. This would help Android users like myself to Add links or files to spaces directly. (Just a suggestion) In the mean time
