We’ve recently shipped some updates to new.space which allows multiple emoji reactions from everyone in the same space. It’s so fun to see all the reactions flow in during our weekly sync meeting with the Shareup team, and Adam recently posted a video showing how we use new.space to create a real-time collaborative space during each call we have together. Beyond reactions, we’ve been improving the detail view so that content is shown its best form (more on that soon), building new layouts to see your items and creating new ways to select and download your content.

While building the app and talking to folks using new.space, we recognized three use-cases that we’d like to showcase today:

  • Sharing & selecting everyone’s favorite photos

  • Apartment hunting and ranking

  • University group projects

Let’s get into each use-case 🪂

Sharing & selecting everyone’s favorite photos

After a trip it can be difficult to get everyone’s favorite photos into the same place and share them to each other. Between platform differences, size restrictions, or just the hassle of setting up some shared folder, with new.space the process is easy. Your group can flag the best of the best with a 👍, and even mark which ones to get printed or turned into a book with 📎.

It’s fun to see everyone’s votes come through over time, and it’s easy for everyone to download the photos they want to permanently add to their local photo library.

Apartment hunting and ranking

Searching for a new home can be overwhelming. There are links to property listings, there are map locations, and there are PDFs and documents we need to have at the ready to quickly share. Then we need to go through and rank the homes or flats with our partners or roommates, so we can easily see at a glance which would be best.

Add all the links and documents to space, share the link with your partner or roommate, and the new emoji reactions make it easy to quickly prioritize the items in the space. new.space makes this part quite fun!

University group projects

Group work is usually not everyone’s favorite activity. Luckily, new.space can make it easy to gathering everyone’s research and contributions into one place, and quickly get a glance what is done and what is still left to do.

After a potential final paper or presentation is ready, add it to the space and everyone can review it and use reactions to mark it as complete or voice that there is a bit more work left to do.
