Hey there 👋
Winter is almost here in the northern hemisphere. For me in Berlin: sunset is at 4pm, it’s getting closer to freezing temps at night, and most days have that gray look 🙈
My favorite part of fall/winter is sharing a warm meal with friends and family 💖😊 and that means planning a dinner 😧
I love a great dinner, but I find it very stressful to collect and organize everything. Things are scattered across different apps and websites and I constantly forget who’s responsible for what.
I need to remember to collect:
The recipes for the dishes
The guest list
Who’s bringing what?
When to put what in the oven so it’s done at the right time?
Game ideas
Directions and travel details
Let’s jump into new.space to get everything in place and bring order to the chaos.
I’ve added the map location link and a Google Doc with the guest list, so people can claim what they want to bring. There is a cool service called calndr.link that will make a calendar event link that works for any calendar app or service. This makes it easy for everyone to add the dinner to their calendars, if they want to.
Next, I’ve added some recipes so everyone can see the ingredients and add emoji reactions to them. And I have a PDF on my phone I use to know when to start each dish in the oven so they are all done at the same time. I’ve quickly added that with the iOS app:
I already own a few board games so I’ve put links for those in there as well. Using new.space's reactions, it's easy for people to vote for the game they prefer. And finally, I’ll add a great playlist so we can have some nice background music ♫
Check out my new space:
OK, now I feel relief – I have everything in one place and under control 😌 and my guests can add anything I’ve missed!
Are you planning a dinner soon? Do you have other ideas for how new.space can help you tame the mess of files and links we deal with day-to-day? Reply and let me know how we can make new.space even better for you 💪
Also, our iOS beta is nearly ready! Everyone subscribed to our Substack will be the first to get access. Is there someone you know who would love to use the new.space iOS app when it’s available? Forward this post to them so they can subscribe and get notified when it’s ready to install and use.
Thanks for reading and happy sharing,
Nathan
