Collaborative weekend reading lists with new.space
Collecting and organizing a list of things to read, watch, and listen to over the weekend
Taking time to relax and recharge is absolutely essential. For me, that means spending time on the weekends reading, watching, or listening to things I didn't have time for during the workweek.
Before new.space, that meant keeping a bunch of tabs open in my browser, emailing links to myself, or adding stuff to my already-overflowing read-it-later app inbox. Those systems worked, but they were inconvenient, usually relegated to individual devices, and always solitary.
new.space changes everything, though. At the beginning of every week, I create a space to hold things for the next weekend. Throughout the week—no matter where I am, what device I am on, or what kind of content I want to save—I add stuff to the space. It could be a YouTube video, a Substack post, a link to an album on Spotify or Apple Music, or the PDF of an academic paper. If it looks interesting to me, I don't even think about it. I just immediately add it to the space.
When I’m on the go, the new.space iOS share extension makes collecting things into the “Weekend Read, Watch, and Listen” space incredibly easy. Here is an article from The Verge that I quickly added for myself for this weekend:
Then, when the weekend rolls around, I choose the stuff that looks the most interesting to me to read, watch, or listen to. It's great!
Even better, unlike with every other tool I could use for this, new.space allows me to share the space with my friends and colleagues and to ask them to contribute stuff to the space! Usually, I'll post the space to somewhere kind of private like LinkedIn and ask my friends there to add anything interesting they come across to the space. Naturally, they're able to view all of the stuff in the space themselves or copy it to their own private spaces, if they want.
And when something resonates with people, they can react in the space via 👍, 👎, ❤️, 😹, 👀, or whatever.
How do you recharge on the weekends? How could new.space do more to help you collect and organize what you need?
Also, a reminder: subscribers to our Substack will be the first to get access to our new.space iOS beta. Please, forward this post to anyone you think would be interested in getting early access to our iOS beta so they can subscribe and be first in line. We can’t wait to get the new.space iOS beta into your hands.
Thanks for reading and happy sharing 💪
